BR1 is a natural material of volcanic origin with very high porosity, to be used as a "biological substrate" in water filtration, for the biological degradation of dissolved organic compounds.

It has a sponge-like structure with a very high total surface area, which allows the settlement of large quantities of bacterial colonies of different species and sizes; both nitrifying and denitrifying.
This allows BR1 to carry out a broad spectrum biological degradation; capable, also depending on the method of use, of breaking down the various components of the nitrogen cycle (from Ammonium / Ammonia, to Nitrites, up to Nitrates), as well as phosphates and organic pollutants.

BR1 is totally inert, does not release harmful substances and does not degrade over time..
